Camping at Honeycomb Campground

Located in Grant, Alabama, just 30 minutes from downtown Huntsville, Honeycomb Campground is one of the places we like to venture to for a relaxing getaway weekend.

The campground hosts 141 campsites, with 37 of them being waterfront sites. Primitive and RV sites are available, but if that’s not your style, they also have four two-bedroom fully stocked cabins available for rent; one of them is even wheelchair accessible. All campsites are extremely spacious and come equipped with a picnic table.

The campground rests along the banks of Lake Guntersville, providing an amazing sandy swim beach. Other amenities include fishing off the docks, boat rentals, a kids’ playground, a pavilion, clean bathhouses, and a general store.

This is one of my family’s favorite places to camp. My kids thoroughly enjoy it here and are often seen frequenting the playground and riding their bikes around. During our last stay, the campground had a dino hunt going on for the kids. Clues about the hiding place were left at the pavilion throughout the day. Whoever found the dinosaur received a free ice cream from the store. My boys were able to find the dinosaur during our stay and were super excited!

The camp also hosts many events throughout the weekend, including water wars, movies under the pavilion, and festive activities for the holidays. However, the campground still remains quiet, and the events can easily be avoided if your goal is a peaceful weekend.

If you’re into hiking, the TVA Honeycomb Trail is right before you enter the park. The hike spans 9.3 miles and offers a variety of difficulty levels.

Day passes are also available for guests who do not wish to stay overnight but want access to the docks and beachfront. However, I highly recommend staying here for the full experience.

Overall if you’re looking for a weekend getaway on a lake, Honeycomb Campground is a wonderful place to be.
